Hi, I am Jeff Miles one of the Co-Youth directors. I am in charge of activities and spiritual events
Hello, I am Donald McCandless, I am a Co-Youth Director and Assistant Choir Director.
Our goal here at Cedar Bayou Grace United Methodist Church’s Youth Ministry is to make this a place where ALL YOUTH in Junior and Senior High belong and feel welcomed, loved and accepted. If we can be of any assistance to you, please do not hesitate to contact us and let us know how we can help you.
“For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.” Corinthians 3:11 (New Living Translation)
We believe that with Christ we can build Spiritual Foundations! Foundations built on Christ and his promise of eternal Life.
Mission Trips
We take several mission trips each year. These may include UM ARMY (for Sr. High) and Big House (for Jr. High), SUMMIT (for Jr. High), as well as local missions.
Senior High Missions
UM ARMY means United Methodist Action Reach-Out Mission by youth. This began in 1979 with a single work camp in Athens, Texas. Since then UM ARMY has grown to over 49 work camps where 4,000 plus youth and adults participate. These camps last from Sunday to Saturday.
Every summer UM ARMY recruits thousands of youth and adults to leave home and spend a week at a United Methodist church where they provide free home repairs for homeowners who are physically or financially unable to make needed repairs.
Through the building of wheelchair ramps, porches, steps, and handrails; painting homes, cleaning houses, and mowing yards, this ARMY reaches out and becomes missionaries serving God’s people.
This year we are going the week of July15-20, 2012 in Bay City, Texas

Junior High Mission Trips
BIG HOUSE is an acronym, which stands for Believing In God and Helping Others Understand through Service Everywhere and is basically a smaller version of UM ARMY.. In 1996, 25 people from 3 youth groups held the first BIG HOUSE work camp in Athens, Texas where volunteers scraped and painted Mt. Selman United Methodist Church north of Jacksonville, Texas. In the seven years that BIG HOUSE has operated it has grown from the original 25 participants to now having over 1000 participants in 2002. BIG HOUSE lasts from Thursday to Sunday.
BIG HOUSE is for Jr. High youth (completed 6th-8th Grade), who work to repair and repaint needful churches and social agencies. Work Projects for BIG HOUSE include; Painting churches, doing landscaping, handrail repair, preparing meals, stocking food at a food pantry, etc.

This council will meet every other month. Together with the youth directors we will talk about up coming events, places we want to go, and things to do.
This group is expected to take leadership roles in the youth program. Things like leading prayers, discussions, games, making new people or visitors feel comfortable, and providing everyone with a positive role model.
