Pastors

Rev. Bryan Harkness

Pastor

I grew up in Waco where I attended church regularly and was active in the youth ministry at First Methodist, Waco. I accepted Christ in high school during a youth revival at First Methodist.

During my early college years, I drifted away from church. Thankfully, I had a roommate that led me back by inviting me to church.

I am a graduate of Texas A&M and SMU’s Perkins School of Theology. I previously served as pastor of First Methodist Chandler for ten years, four years as pastor at Woodville UMC from 2010-2014, and as an associate pastor at Klein UMC from 2005-2010.  Prior to receiving his call to ministry, I was a social worker for Tri-County MHMR which provided mental health services to Walker, Montgomery and Liberty counties.

I am married to Carol, who will be the PASS teacher at Barbers Hill High School starting in the fall. She has taught chemistry and biology at the high school level for eight years and worked in the bio-tech industry for 15 years prior.

We have two children, Rachel and Brayton. Rachel attends Texas A&M majoring in chemistry. She is active in Campus Crusade for Christ. Brayton will be attending Barbers Hill high school and loves all things basketball.

“We are thrilled for the privilege of serving a church that has such a powerful witness in their community.”
